Greenwood County and Bent County just
to the south were created in 1870 from land previously reserved
by the Federal Government for the Arapahoe and Cheyenne Indian
tribes. Greenwood County was disolved in 1874 and the land was
divided between Bent and
Elbert Counties.
(Greenwood covered much of the area now claimed by Elbert, Lincoln, Cheyenne, Kiowa, Otero and Kit Carson Counties.) |
