ANDERSON County is situated in the second tier of counties west from Missouri, fifty miles south from the Kansas River, and seventy miles north from the Indian Territory.
It is in extent twenty-four miles square, and is bounded on the north by Franklin County, on the east by Linn, on the south by Allen, and on the west by Coffey. 1.Organized in 1855. County seat Garnett.
Received its name from Jos. C. Anderson, of Missouri, who was a member of the first Kansas Territorial Legislature, and Speaker pro tem. of the House of Representatives.2.
