SEDGWICK County embraces the territory between the north line of Township 25 and the south line of Township 26 south, and the east line of Range 2 east and the west line of Range 4 west of the sixth principal meridian, except in Townships 25 and 26, along which the west line of Range 3 west is the western boundary.1Organized in 1870. County seat Wichita. In memory of John Sedgwick, United States army, Major-General of volunteers, killed in battle, May 9, 1864, at Spotsylvania, Va.2
