According to records, the first and oldest cemetery in Cloverport is known as the Scott Cemetery. Established
some time after Joe Houston's arrival and establishing "Joesville" in 1804, it became the first known burial ground.
Later, the Oglesby Cemetery, on the west side of Joesville/Cloverport, and the Murray Cemetery, on the east side
of Joesville/Cloverport, would be established for further public burials.

Located on a lot in a beech grove, behind the old first school house, the earliest residents were buried. At present,
names of those buried are not available. Many, many years ago, the markers had been "taken" and only field stones
remained. The lot became a pasture and livestock decimated what remained of any markers and/or field stones.
