Captain Jefferson Hall, Company F, Fourteenth Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry was "Dishonorably dismissed the service by General Order No. 36. War Department, series of 1864, to date January 22,1864." What was General Order No. 36 at that time? Jefferson Hall is my GGGrandfather, and as we have had ,and have so many military people in our family we just wondered why we would have one with a dishonorable discharge, what he could have done to warrent such a thing. Thanks for any help. Beverly James Hurst

Searching for information on my great great grandfather, Mathew Henry OWENS who was said to have fought on the UNION side. The "legion" is that at least one of his sons also served in the same company. Mathew was either living in Jefferson County, Ky or Union County, KY when he joined. The family story goes that the only thing the man ever stole was at the end of the war, and on his way home to his family, his old horse became lame and he found a black stallion to ride home., that wasn't his.

Looking for information on Isaac W. Embry aka Ike Embry.
He lived in Butler County with wife Malinda (Land) Embry but went on to
fight for the Union in the 11th Kentucky Infantry, which was put together
in Calhoun. About the only information I have comes from a book called
Lincoln County (Mo.) Families. In it, there is a story about a Virgil
Rice Embry who ran off and joined the Union 11th Kentucky with his
brother Isaac. The 11th fought at Shiloh and a lady who has a photo of
either Isaac or Virgil has writing on the back that Isaac died at Stone
Mountain (or something like that) in Murfreesboro in late 1862. There was
an estate sale in Butler County in early 1863 for Isaac Embry's property,
so I guess that info on death is fairly accurate.
I have sent off for Isaac's civil war record (sent in August) but have
had no luck. Hope you can help. Thanks
