Katherine MooreShe was a member of the First Baptist Church and a retired employee of Stagg Distillers. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Pat Smith, Bonifay, Fla., Mrs. Nancy Barbee, Kannapolis, N. C., and Mrs. Maxine Ray, Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Agnes Carrico, Owensboro; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Antun and Elizabeth Haller and the widow of Bernard B. Moore. Dr. Herman Bowers will officiate at the service. George W. SmithHe died at his residence Sunday night following a sudden illness. Burial is in Sunset Memorial Gardens. He was a Woodford County native, a retired security guard for Kentucky State Police, an Army WW II veteran and member of the Choateville Christian Church. Survivors include a son, David R. Smith, Newport News, Virginia; a brother, John Smith, Frankfort; a sister, Mrs. Gracie Smith James, Mt. Sterling. He was the son of the late Harry Smith and Elizabeth Clark SMith; the Rev. Dale Parrish will officiate the services. Bearers will be Harrison Smith Jr., Terry Smith, William Smith, David Smith, Robert Smith, Harry Smith, Eddie Smith and Charles Pierce. Lewis E. PfoutsA native of Burghill, Ohio, Pfouts had been an executive pilot for 25 years for the Kentucky Department of Transportation. He also was an aviation safety representative and authorized safety representative and authorized as a private pilot examiner and instrument rating examiner. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps, and a member of the Hope Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Kathryn Burns Pfouts, and two sisters, Mrs. George Blaney, Hartford, Ohio; and Mrs. Frank Whitmore, Burghill, Ohio. Pfouts was the son of the late Gary and Sarah Garts Pfouts. The Rev. Pat Flynn will officiate at the services. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to either the American Heart Association or the Hope Lutheran Church.
Henry M. Duvall Sr.He was a Franklin County native, retired state employee for the former Highway Department and a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Surviving are four sons, Henry Duvall Jr., Roland Franklin Duvall, and Ray Douglas Duvall, all of Frankfort, and Edward Scott Duvall, Bullitt County; two daughters, Mrs. Nancy G. Brawner, Louisville, and Mrs. Margaret Clark, Frankfort; one brother, Charles Edward Duvall, Cleveland, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Bearers will be Danny Brawner, Mike Duvall, David Duvall, Gregory Duvall, Jeffery Clark and James Clark.
Mrs. Willana UpdikeMrs. Updike died at 8:20 p.m. Sunday in the Shady Grove Advestis Hospital, Gaithersburg, Md., following a short illness. Burial will be in the Frankfort Cemetery. She was a Franklin County native and former employee of the Schenley Distillery with 34 years of service. She was a member of the Plesant View United Methodist Church. Surviving are a son, Rev. Charles Updike, Gaithersburg; one grandson. Mrs. Updike was the daughter of the late John and Myrtle Peveler. Rev. John Underwood will officiate at the service. Honorary bearers will be members of the Plesant View United Methodist Church. Active bearers will be Kevin Underwood, Kent Underwood, Joe Heady, John Sower, Eugene (Whitey) Cheser and Neville Downer.
Charles BowlesHe died Monday at his home in St. Petersburg, Fla. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville. Survivors include his wife, Ann Belle Maybrier Bowles, St. Petersburg; two daughters, Jo Anne Bemis, Shelbyville, and Mary Ellen Stout, formerly of Frankfort, now living in St. Petersburg; four granddaughters.
