Oldest Resident Dies
Winchester, Ky. Nov. 21--Mrs. Mollie A. Duvall, 97, Winchester's oldest resident, died early Monday night at her home on East Hickman street. Death was attributed to infirmities of age. She was born in Bourbon county, near North Middletown, on May 5, 1842 to Elizabeth and Benjamin Cloud. After their death, she was brought to Clark county to live with her grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, on the Van Meter pike.
When her grandmother died, she returned to Bourbon county and made her home with an uncle, John Smith. It was at his home that she was married to John Duvall, a prominent Clark county farmer, who brought her again to this county to live. He died 50 years ago.
Mrs. Duvall was a faithful church-goer until about three years ago when she became unable to walk across the street to church. However, a communication apparatus installed by a friend enabled her to sit in "her" chair by a window and listen to the services. Her family and friends gave her a party on her last birthday.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Whittington of Winchester; a son, John D. Duvall Jr. of Clark county; a grandson, H. H. Duvall of Louisville, and one great-granddaughter, Miss Mae Belle Duvall of Winchester. Mrs. Whittington lived with her mother.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the grave in Winchester cemetery by Dr. Hugh McLellan, pastor of the First Christian church. Pallbearers will be J. M. Walker, J. C. Codell, Charles Hagan, T. C. Smith, Cillum Scobee and Dave Prewitt.

Harlan Merchant's Body Found In Road Culvert
Harlan, Ky., Feb. 22--The body of Charles Barnes, 60, Harlan county merchant, missing since Saturday, was found late Wednesday night stuffed down a highway culvert near Insull, 15 miles west of here.
Barnes, who owned two general merchandise stores in the county, had been shot through the head and beaten. His automobile was found abandoned in adjoining Bell county a few hours before his body was discovered by Magistrate R. C. Green. Barnes, a native of the Pathfork section of Harlan county, is survived by several sons.

Goldie May Woolums
Goldie Mae Woolums, 4 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Omer Woolums, died Tuesday morning at the Woodford Memorial hospital. The child submitted to a double mastoid operation Oct. 28. The parents and a sister, Adeline Woolums, survive. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. W. G. Hammock, will be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The burial will take place in the Versailles cemetery.
