SARAH F. PENNINGTON PENNINGTON - Mrs. Sarah F. Pennington was born Nov. 24, 1824; converted and joined the Methodist Church when a small girl. She was married to Phillip Pennington and came to Arkansas in 1859. She was the Mother of five children; two had preceded her to the other world. Two sons and one daughter are still living. The Daughter, Sister Andrews of Hope professed religion at New Hope, Clark County in 1869, under the Ministry of the writer. Sanford, the oldest son, is an exhorter and steward at New Hope, Clark County, William is at Fulton. When I was traveling the Clark County circuit in 1869 (Bro. Pennington was then living) I always found a home and friends at their house; they treated me so kindly I never forgot them. Sister Pennington was living with the daughter at Hope, and had been I think so for several years. She died August 07, 1891, in peace, ready for the exchange of time for eternity. Her remains were brought to New Hope and buried by the side of her Husband, to await the resurrection of the body at the last day. The burial service was performed by the writer the next day. I preached her funeral from Rev. 14:13. Thus ended the life of a good woman. Children live right, and meet Father and Mother in the "Celestial City". By J.M. Douglass Arkadelphia, Arkansas Sarah F. Pennington was my Great Great Grandmother. Wanda J. Sloan Karnes Typed exactly as written. ************************************************************************
