PAUL L. SLOAN  is called by Death:  Funeral Friday   
Arkadelphia Druggist suffers Heart Attack;  End Comes Suddenly 
Paul Leslie Sloan, aged 62 years, widely known druggist, died at his home
here at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday (April 04, 1945), of a heart attack suffered 
a few hours earlier in the night. Last winter he was ill of pneumonia 
which may have left him in condition for the seizure that caused his 
passing on. He was at the store Tuesday and Tuesday night. It was after 
he had gone home and retired that he became sick. Mr. Sloan was born August
22, 1882, in Arkadelphia, eldest son of Joanna Williams and Thomas A. Sloan,
members of two of the oldest families in Arkansas.  After his education in 
Arkadelphia schools he went to Texarkana where he was associated in the 
drug business with his Uncle, the late Ben Williams. In Texarkana he was 
married to Miss Blanche McFarland, January 02, 1905, and they moved in 1907 
to Arkadelphia where he entered the drug business and later formed a 
partnership with his brother, Harold Sloan, the business being known as 
Sloan Brothers Drug Store. He was a member of the First Methodist Church 
of which he was a former Steward. 

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Claude Durrett of DeRidder, 
Louisiana, and Miss Lela Sloan of Arkadelphia; by one sister, Mrs. Mary Cason 
of Miami, Florida; by three brothers, Harold and Charles Neill Sloan of 
Arkadelphia, and Williams Sloan of Morrilton; and by two half-brothers, Major 
James Sloan of San Francisco and Joe Sloan of Honolulu, Hawaii. 

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Bob Pool of the First Methodist Church, 
will be held in Murry's Funeral Church at 3:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be 
in Rose Hill Cemetery.
