MARYLEA VINES Marylea VINES, Corning, was born in Hoxie, Friday April 1, 1927. She died in St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center, Jonesboro, Sat., Oct. 25, 2008. She was 81. A news reporter and journalist for 62 years with Clay County Courier, she was of the Methodist faith and was never married. . Survivors are several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 in the chapel of ERMERT Funeral Home with Don HEWETT officiating. Burial in Corning Cemetery. DANNY GLEGHORN Danny Ray GLEGHORN of Corning died Monday Oct. 27, 2008 in Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould. He was born August 26, 1940 in Knobel. He served as a copper mine worker and was affiliated with Church of Christ. Survivors are two sons; Michael Ray GLEGHORN, Colorado and Bobby Joe GLEGHORN, New Mexico; one stepdaughter, Georgette BUCHANAN, Colorado; 6 grandchildren; one brother John GLEGHORN, Corning and four sisters, Carmon WOOD, Lincoln, CA., Dorotha HUNT, Harrison, AR., Elberta BILTOFT, Corning and Rosalee WONSER, Coolidge, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Bessie GLEGHORN and one brother Donald A. GLEGHORN. ERMERT Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. DANNY RICE Danny Lee RICE was born in Corning, Nov. 9, 1934 son of Earl and Mary RICE. He died in the VA Medical Center, Poplar Bluff, Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008. He was 73. A veteran of the US Army, he was a self-employed mechanic and of the Missionary Baptist faith. Oct. 16, 1954 he married Hilda Ann RICE and she survives. Other survivors are one daughter Danna RICE, Corning; two sons, Richard (Annette) RICE, Boydsville, Alan (Laurie) RICE, Corning; one brother Arlie (Karen) RICE, Rockford, IL; 6 grandchildren Jami, Robin, Kelly (Stuart), Danny (Sarah) Jeremy and Nickolas; 2 great-grandchildren Alex and Nichole. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Earl "Bud" Richard RICE, Bobby Gene RICE and Max Joe RICE; two sisters Earl Dean BLOOMINGDALE, Sally Elizabeth GILLMORE; grandson Earl Richard RICE III; great-grandson Josiah Samuel RICE. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008 in the chapel of ERMERT Funeral Home with Rev. Leon HARVEY and Rev. Jimmy McMASTERS officiating. Burial in Corning Cemetery. DANNY SHIELDS Danny Oscar SHIELDS, Lafe, was born in Paragould July 10, 1950 son of Vernon and Victoria SHIELDS. He died in NEA Baptist Hospital, Jonesboro, Tues. Oct. 21, 2008. He was 58. A self-employed carpenter, he was of the Baptist faith. Survivors are his wife Loretta of the home; one sister Sonya COLE, Paragould; one nephew Scotty COLE, Paragould. He was preceded in death by his parents and one niece Tammy WOODS. Funeral services were conducted Fri. Oct. 24, 2008 in the chapel of ERMERT Funeral Home with Rev. Charles ABERNATHY officiating. ROBERT HANCOCK Robert Lee HANCOCK, Rockford, IL was born April 3, 1928 in Knobel, son of Charles Harrison and Ethel Pearl MORRIS HANCOCK. He died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 in Rockford. He was 80. A graduate of Knobel High School Class of 1947, he married Hester May GRAYUM, June 8, 1956. He was the father of Rebecca Ann (Michael) FRITZ, Bothell, WA., Teresa Lee HANCOCK, Winnebago, Calvin Robert (Selena) HANCOCK, Stillman Valley, IL., Reba Mae HANCOCK, Wasilla, AL., ; grandchildren Kimberly, Renee, Kayla and Logan; sisters Mary STACY, Poplar Bluff, Lucille THOMAS, Hot Springs and Della BELL Heber Springs; brothers Ross HANCOCK, Rector, Raygene HANCOCK, Albany, OR. He was employed at National Lock for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Raymond HANCOCK and Russell HANCOCK and sister Hazel CATT. Services were conducted Wed. Oct. 1, 2008 in Sundberg Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel HERNANDEZ officiating. Burial in New Milford Cemetery.
