All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** Johnnie Morehead Feb. 16, 1942 Malvern Dailey Record Johnny Morehead Commits Suicide At Friendship Johnny Morehead, 33, committed suicide Saturday afternoon at the home of his mother, Mrs. Emma Morehead at Friendship. Mr. Morehead used a double barrelled shotgun, the bullets striking him in the left breast just above the heart. He lived about an hour and was brought to the Hot Spring County hospital where he died at 6:30. Relatives and neighbors told Coroner Milton Kidder that Mr. Morehead had been despondent for about a week. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Maggie Willmon Morehead, North Malvern; a daughter, Thelma, North Malvern; a step-son, Eugene Dunkin, North Malvern; his mother, Mrs. Emma Morehead, Friendship, and two brothers, Hugh of Friendship and Earl of Hot Springs. Deceased was born at Friendship, and was a member of the Brown Springs Presbyterian church. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at four o’clock at the Friendship Methodist church, with Elder C. V. Kemp of Malvern, officiating. Interment was in the Friendship cemetery, Cooper Funeral Co. In charge of arrangements. (Malvern Dailey Record, Feb. 16, 1942).
