He was born in Garnett, son of the late John and Effie A. Scott Scifres. He was retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal Fire Department, and was assistant chief of the White Hall Volunteer Fire Department. He served in the Army during World War II, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the White Hall American Legion. He was a member of the Redfield Masonic Lodge 700 and a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret E. Mullikin Scifres; a son, Jimmie Leron Scifres of Pensacola, Florida; a brother, Elton Leroy Scifres of Jackson, Mississippi; and two grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hale-South Funeral Home by Reverend Robert Oden and Reverend Lori Poyner. Burial is to be in the Holly Springs Cemetery near Star City. Pallbearers will be Benny England, Emmit Crawford, E. E. Wentz, Palmer Boast, Ned Tomboli, Kirby Richardson, Richard lee Ashcraft, Claude Albey and O. T. Plunkett. The family will be at the home at 206 White Hall Road.
