BENNIE RUFUS POTTS

  Bennie Rufus Potts of Ashdown died Monday in Little River Memorial
Hospital.

  Services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Richmond Cemetery with
Rev. Bob Little officiating. Masonic burial services were held.

  Mr. Potts was a native of Little River County, being born in the Pine 
Prairie community. He was a Baptist, veteran of World War I and II and
a retired Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member of the Ashdown Masonic
Lodge for over 50 years.

  Survivors include his wife, Vivian Potts of Ashdown; two sons, Joseph
and Jack Allen, both of Metuchen, N.J.; two brothers, Willie Potts of 
Roff, Okla., and Ed Evans of Ashdown; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Turner
of Ashdown, Mrs. Bertie Evans of Texarkana, and Mrs. Minnie Lentz of
Rochester, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral for Mrs. Josie Henry Wednesday P.M.

 Mrs. Josie Henry, 85, died at her home here Monday afternoon, following
an illness of some time. Mrs. Henry had been a resident of Ashdown for
41 years. She was born at Rocky Comfort on Jan. 1, 1863, and spent most
of her life in this county. She was a member of the First Baptist Church
here.  Her late husband, J. G. Henry, preceded her in death four years
ago. 

 Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church here Wednesday
afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, with burial in Richmond Cemetery. Rev. Lawson 
Hatfield officiated at the services, with Phillips Funeral Home in
charge of arrangements.

 Mrs. Henry is survived by four sons: R.F. Evans, Texarkana; Ed Evans, 
Houston, Texas; W.W. Potts, Ada, Okla; and B.R. Potts, Elizabeth, N.J.;
five  daughters: Mrs. J. C. Finley, Mrs. Annie Trner, Miss Birtie Evans
and Mrs. Anita Cowert of Ashdown, and Mrs. C.O. Lentz, Rochester, Minn.;
one sister, Mrs. F.S. Miller, Austin, Texas; 17 grandchildren and 11
great grandchildren.
