               MARTHA EVELYN SHATWELL,98,JASPER


           Martha Evelyn Shatwell, aged 98, of the Newton
         County Nursing Home at Jasper, died Friday, Oct. 26,
         at Boone County Hospital.
           She was born May 29, 1886, at Cowell, a daughter
         of John and Sarah Henson Martin.
           Survivors include three sons, Arvil Shatwell, Jasper;
         Elver Shatwell, Vendor; Talmadge Shatwell, Harrison;
         two daughters, Ola Holt and Willie Mae Davis, both
         of Dover; 28 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren,
         and 79 great-great grandchildren.
           She was preceded in death by her husband, John
         C. Shatwell, two sons, Charles and Denver Shatwell,
         two daughters, Ollie Belle and Virgie Robinson, a
         brother and four sisters.
           Services were Monday, Oct. 29, at Crossroads 
         Church with the Rev. Charles Christian and Jimmy
         Bohannon officiating. Burial was in Crossroads
         Cemetery under the direction of Christeson Funeral
         Home.
           Pallbearers included Dennis Shatwell, Clinton 
         Holt, Eddie Robinson, Arlis Shatwell, Gereld Davis,
         and Farrell Shatwell.  



Martha Evelyn Shatwell (Martin) was my Great-Grandmother (mother of 
Virgie and "Tad")
