Lashley On May 22, 3:30 p.m., 1928, the death angel visited the home of Mrs. Lizzie Lashley and took from us and her, her loving husband and father, leaving broken hearts and a pall of gloom, where glad hearts and bright rays of hope and happiness reigned a few days ago. He is gone but he passed peacefully to rest from troubles, trials and disappointments and sorrow that are strewn along the pathway of this life of pain and death. We are given this short life to prepare for that home over there, where loved ones are awaiting our coming and where we shall all be gather home. 'Tis a sweet solemn thought to think that the time will soon come where we can lay aside the burdens and hardships of life in this unfriendly world and go to that upper kingdom where we will dwell in joy and peace forever. Let us weep not dear ones, for we know he is at rest. Let us just be prepared to meet him in the great beyond where death and sorrow are never known. He lived to be eighty-one years of age. He is survived by his wife, four sons and four daughters; Mrs. Laurel Gantz, Roy, Louie, Mae; one step-son, Charley Rodgers, all of Benton; Mrs. J. W. Neal, of Louisiana; J. D. Lashley of California; Mrs. Walter Page of Weatherspoon, Ar. He was laid to rest in the Hicks Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted by Elder J. E.Cobb of Benton. A precious one, from us has gone A voice we love is still A place is vacant in our house That never can be filled. Thou art gone, thy precious father Never more cans't thou return You will sleep a peaceful slumber Till the resurrection morn. We have lost a darling father He has bid us all adieu He has gone to live in heaven And his form is lost to view But, it is faith's tear dimmed eyes That can see through all space Amidst the angel-crowded skies, We'll see dear and well known faces. With beckoning hands he seems to say Though all his suffering is o'er His lovely form was borne away To that celestial shore.
